Ted McMeekin

Ted McMeekinTed McMeekin is the Ontario Liberal candidate for the new riding of Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas in the June 2018 provincial election.

Ted was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2000. He currently serves as Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier. Previously Ted served as a Minister of Consumer Services, Agriculture, Community & Social Services, and Municipal Affairs & Housing. He has a long history of community service. He served as Mayor of Flamborough and a Hamilton City Councillor. A graduate of Mohawk College and McMaster University, Ted worked as Executive Director of the Burlington Social Planning Council, Chair of Part-Time Students at Mohawk, Mission Officer with the United Church of Canada and owner of the original Chapters Bookstore.

Ted has worked to make a difference with many local organizations, including the Hamilton Mental Health Association, Wesley Urban Ministries, Five Oaks Christian Workers Centre, Circle of Friends and Operation Lifeline refugee settlement. McMeekin served as President of both the Hamilton and Burlington YMCA, and Hamilton-Wentworth Lung Association. He has been an overseas volunteer, and a baseball and soccer coach.

Along with his wife Dr. Barbara McMeekin, Ted lives in downtown Dundas and has three adult daughters. A strong advocate for building a fairer Ontario, Ted has fought for a new seniors strategy, children with special needs, enhanced health care, and protecting our environment.
